The widespread use of pesticides and their ubiquitous distribution in the environment raises toxicological concerns with respect to potential adverse effects on human health and the environment. Water is one of the primary routes by which pesticides are transported from an application area to other locations. The acute oral and dermal LD 50 values of commonly used pesticides are listed in the following tables and include acaricides, bactericides, fungicides, herbicides, insect growth regulators, insecticides, nematicides, and plant growth regulators. The common chemical name of the active ingredient followed by an example of a trade name is listed in the first column.

Further, writing a book takes a good deal of time and effort, and I had imagined that I would never undertake such a demanding task. A few unexpected events and circumstances have changed my mind. The Handbook of Pesticide Toxicology is a comprehensive, two-volume reference guide to the properties, effects, and regulation of pesticides that provides the latest and most complete information to researchers Toxicology of pesticides book the environmental, agricultural, veterinary, and human-health impacts of pesticide use.

Written by international experts from academia, government. The book emerged from the United States-Japan seminar on ""Environmental Toxicology of Pesticides"" held in Oiso, Japan, in October The purpose of the seminar was to discuss and exchange ideas and technology on the problems associated with pesticidal contamination in these two countries.

The book is organized into eight parts. Wayne R. Snodgrass, in Hayes' Handbook of Pesticide Toxicology (Third Edition), Types of Chronic Pesticide Toxicity. The types of chronic pesticide toxicity may be categorized by chemical class (e.g., organophosphate or organochlorine), by the presence or absence of current ongoing exposure, or by the extent of long-term body burden (e.g., a chemical with a very long.

This can only be achieved by thorough understanding of the comparative toxicology of these compounds, and by minimizing human (and other desirable species) exposure.

This book brings together key features of the toxicology and occupational hazards of pesticides and the way their use is regulated in the main trading regions of the world. There are chapters on each of the main groups of insecticides, namely organochlorines, anticholinesterases and pyrethrins and pyrethroids.4/5(1).

Despite their potentially adverse effects on nontarget species and the environment, insecticides remain a necessity in crop protection as well as in the reduction of insect-borne Toxicology and Biochemistry of Insecticides provides essential insecticide knowledge required for the effective management of insect pests.
